Requiem ( Delirium #3) by Lauren Oliver

Summary

They have tried to squeeze us out, to stamp us into the past.

But we are still here.

And there are more of us every day.

Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has been transformed. The nascent rebellion that was under way in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight.

After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancée of the young mayor.

Maybe we are driven crazy by our feelings.

Maybe love is a disease, and we would be better off without it.

But we have chosen a different road.

And in the end, that is the point of escaping the cure: We are free to choose.

We are even free to choose the wrong thing.

Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.

My review

One thing is certain, Lauren Oliver's writing is really beautiful. I have to admit that Requiem wasnt as good as Delirium or Pandemonium, it was still an amazing book and a good end for the series. Some people will be dissapointed with the ending but I think that it was perfect. It leaves you to think and imagine for yourself ehat happens next.  Now, about the characters. I really liked Julian but I was always team Alex. I think that his and Lena's love is once in a lifetime. Julian is a great and a strong guy but he lacks this spark that Alex has. Lena went through hell in this series and I am happy that things seem to look up for her in the end. Hana, well since half the book is her POV I have to sax something about her, is a character I never liked but she really shocked me in her novella. And now that she is cured, ironically, she feels guilt for what she has done. Jelaousy is an ugly thing.
I am sorry to see this series end, it has been a great and a wild ride, full of love, heartache, betrayal, death and hope. But this is one of the most original series I've  ever read and I hope there will maybe be a novella, about Julian maybe, in the future.

  1. I've hear a lot about this ending and I haven't even read this series yet! lol. I'm actually going to be starting the audiobook of book 1 tomorrow! :D I'm super curious what I'll think of it and this ending in particular. I've often loved open ended endings that leave things to your own imagination and they can work very well! Great review, Lena!

  2. I really loved this series, and yes, Lauren Oliver's writing is incredible! I'm glad I waited until Requiem was about to come out to read Delirium and Pandemonium. I could have lived with a little less Hana and a little more Lena. I was not a fan of Hana. The girl who has it all but still must rain on other's parades? Not my kind of girl.
