Across the universe (Across The Universe #1) by Beth Revis

Summary:

A love out of time. A spaceship built of secrets and murder.

Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.

Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone-one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship-tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.

Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.

My review:

Amazing story. Amazing world. Interesting characters. All that equals this fantastic book. Lately I ´ve been reading more dystopian books and that genre really captivated me. I must say that this book enchanted me from the first page and I am so glad I finally read it. It has intrigue, murder, action, passion, lies and loss. I really liked the idea of freezing people for a few centuries and the idea of living on a different planet. I was plenty angry about some racist speeches but it is relevant for the story. Out of all the characters I liked Amy and Harley the best I really cried for him, he was such an amazing person. Amy is really intelligent. That is her best atribute. All the talking anout stars and universe is really wonderful and it made me appreciate the stars above us more. Now I look every night into the sky and it will always remind me of this beautiful book.  I am hoping to read A million suns soon, it seems even better than Across the universe.

P.S. I was reading it as part of Dystopian August on Presenting Lenore .
